A Squatters Guide to Revolutionary Antics

Trailer

This documentary plunges the audience deep into the world of London based squatters with unprecedented entry to an underground movement that has often been the intrigue of many people without having any access or insight.

Universally hated by the UK government, the police, landlords, and for the most part shunned and mistrusted by the general public, squatters are considered one of the most controversial subcultures around. This film, made in a time of rising unemployment and rough sleeping leading to an increasing number of squats in which illegal evictions and arrests were rife, introduces the audience to the various people finding themselves in these squats, exposing them to people from all backgrounds and walks of life; anarchists, addicts, and artists with their sole uniting factor being the shared roof over their heads.

In candidly spending time and living with these subjects, we are witness to the tension between squatting tourism versus real necessity for warmth and shelter. Shot in a Gonzo, fly-on-the-wall style, the film is given a compelling and unpredictable narrative in the form of our main character, Nims, an enigmatic veteran squatter and self-proclaimed genius of building breaking, who’s need for chaos and complex relationship with squatting takes the film in an expected direction.
